WHAT A GREAT DAY....
Well folks, your Organising Team are now adjusting to the less exciting things in life!
Last Sunday at Waddesdon was a real treat. Starting with 22 x R 100’s including a car en-route to a new home in Sweden driven by Zuzana and Jack Hoglund, whom we welcome as new members of the Register.
A total of 220 cars attended making our inaugural event a resounding success. We had every model represented of the Four Wheel variants, from older “flat rads” to the latest Aero Super Sports.
About a dozen Aero’s were on display along with a solitary Three Wheeler, that being the new trike shortly to go into production and recently launched in Geneva by the Morgan Motor Company.
Add to this an Aero Super Sport and a fantastic side exhaust Roadster displayed by the Ledgerwood dealership and the packed frontage at Waddesdon Manor was a sight to behold.
The previous day, our ladies did a sterling job assembling 200 Goody Bags, and preparing for the tombola.
Thirty people then enjoyed dinner together on the Saturday evening, staying at the Hotel such that we were well placed for an early Sunday breakfast. We were setting up at The Manor by 9.00am.
Peter J, Philip and Peter G worked on the parking plan, the ladies set up the Goody Bag and Tombola stations and we were all set for the early arrivals.
The WELCOME board and R 100 banner prepared by Steve greeted everyone on arrival.
The Ledgerwood dealership had set out a display including an Aero Super Sport and a Roadster resplendent in a special paint finish, and The Morgan Motor Company had unveiled the new Three Wheeler.
Both were busy throughout the day, with the Morgan regalia table also very lively.
The central drive was soon packed with Morgan’s nose to tail, patiently awaiting their parking directions. Over the course of say two hours, 200 cars had arrived and were parked in front of The Manor, with a further 20 or so in the overflow parking areas.
The Help For Heroes gazebo was busy, and our ladies raised a magnificent £500 on the Tombola as well as handing out the Goody Bags which were greatly appreciated.
And so the day passed by with some touring the Manor, the gardens, the aviary and wine cellars.
Lunch was taken either in the restaurants or picnics in the garden, and a good time was had according to all the reports we received on the day and in subsequent e-mails.
By 5.30pm everyone had departed reflecting on a great “ALL MORGANS’ DAY”.
